With Tottenham Hotspur strongly interested in Sporting fullback Pedro Porro, it seems the Lions are already moving for a potential replacement.
The Turkish media today reports the Lisbon side’s chase for Galatasaray right-back Sacha Boey. The story comes from journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, with not many details about that pursuit.
It turns out that as the Portuguese press covers the rumour, Tottenham’s chase for Porro is mentioned. That’s done by O Jogo, who says Boey would be a target in case the Spaniard moves in January.
Even though that’s only an outlet putting 2 and 2 together, that possibility does make a lot of sense.
Portuguese clubs, especially Sporting, are not used to making heavy investments in signings, especially in the January window. And considering that Boey is valued by Transfermarkt at €6.5m, that’s a considerable amount for the Lions.
Manager Ruben Amorim many times claimed he wants Porro to stay at the club, so his potential January move to Tottenham would be the only possibility that would explain the board spending that much on a fullback in the middle of the season.
