Villarreal CEO Roig Negueroles has insisted they are yet to receive a formal offer from Everton for Arnaut Danjuma, but there is interest in the Dutchman.
Danjuma was linked with a move to Everton yesterday, with reports in Spain claiming that they were negotiating with Villarreal over a loan deal until the summer.
That was backed up earlier today when it was explained that Everton were bidding hard for the forward and would like to sign him on loan with an option to buy in the summer, something Villarreal would be happy to accept.
The belief was that the Spanish side would be open to such a deal as it would help to alleviate their financial situation and the player is not a part of manager Quique Setién’s plans.
“Right now, we don’t have a formal offer, it’s true that there are rumours there is interest, but I think the market is starting to move now and we’ll see how it evolves,” AS report him saying.
“I don’t know what will happen in the next few weeks. No player has asked me to leave the club, I think everyone is comfortable here.
“The truth is that if it has ever happened, it has always been because a club can make more money or go to a club with a bigger budget.
“We are a team that is in an (economic) situation that we have to improve, it’s not a complicated situation, but it does force us to make some adjustments.
“We are a little above our means, so we are obliged to adjust salaries and costs to our reality. What we don’t want is to have to sell by obligation or to be suffering from a similar situation, what we want is to try to balance the situation sooner.”
