Over the past week or so, we have seen more and more articles about Salernitana’s attempts to sign Pape Matar Sarr from Tottenham.
Any move for the Spurs man would be a loan, since there is little chance of the Serie A side affording him outright or their London counterparts allowing him to leave permanently, but they want him nevertheless.
Recent reports suggested that Salernitana were making a new attempt to get the Tottenham midfielder, with contacts between the two sides restarting.
Well, that is being backed up by local media in Italy, with La Citta di Salerno pointing out that Morgan De Sanctis, the Italian club’s director of football, ‘continues to court’ the Senegal international.
Their aim, following the signing of Hans Nicolussi Caviglia, is to get ‘another midfielder’, and the Spurs man has been ‘in the sights’ of De Sanctis ‘for some time now’.
With Sarr being used just twice in the league by Antonio Conte this season, there’s certainly a deal to be struck here, as long as Tottenham don’t think they need the youngster for squad depth purposes.
