Benfica have rejected the latest proposal made by Chelsea for Enzo Fernández, according to Record.
The Argentina international has a €120m release clause and the Blues had reportedly offered to pay €127m in three instalments. The Eagles president, Rui Costa, was asking for €130m plus better payment methods.
Costa, along with Benfica sporting director, Rui Pedro Braz, and Jorge Mendes, made a trip to London to hold talks with Chelsea. They expected to see the aforementioned proposal on the table.
Instead, the west London club felt the conditions have changed and proposed a different deal which includes €90m plus Hakim Ziyech, and David Datro Fofana and Andrey Santos on loan. The latter is yet to seal a move to Chelsea and is in the English capital to undergo a medical with the Blues.
This offer was turned down by the Portuguese club and Costa showed a ‘lot of displeasure’ with that Graham Potter’s side had already reached an agreement with Fernández.
Record explain the atmosphere was tense and none of the parties involved are wanting to give in, at least for now.
Negotiations between the two clubs for the South American are currently at an impasse and Benfica are insisting they’ll only sell Fernández if his €120m release clause is paid.
