In search of more help to turn their situation around, West Ham United are looking in France once again at a club they are familiar with.
That is FC Metz, whom they dealt with in the past when they signed a certain Diafra Sakho to the Hammers for a fee of €5m back in 2014/15.
According to Foot Mercato, West Ham are looking at a right-back in the Ligue 2 side’s squad named Koffi Kouao.
The Ivory Coast international has spent the last six years of his career in Portugal with Vizela, who bought him from ASEC Mimosas in 2016 before moving to France in the summer.
He has impressed since arriving in August, which is West Ham are taking a look at him, and have ‘placed him on their shortlist’ for the January transfer window.
Whether this all translates into a bid in the coming weeks remain to be seen, but the Hammers are going back to familiar territory to ensure they have the right squad to avoid the drop this season following their unexpected entanglement at the bottom of the Premier League table.
