Bari goalkeeper Elia Caprile’s ‘sacrifices’ at Leeds United could end up working out well for both parties as a potential transfer picks up pace.
La Repubblica cover the player today as part of a look at Bari’s situation today and how the goalkeeper and Walid Cheddira could earn them big money in 2023.
Caprile has been impressing for the Italian club since arriving from Leeds U21 set up in the summer, boasting a record in 17 goals conceded and six clean sheets in 18 games in Serie B this season.
That’s been earning him attention from clubs in Serie A, with reports over the last few months detailing how his value has almost doubled and there is interest in him.
That is good news for Leeds, who retain a 50% sell on clause on the player following his two-year spell at Elland Road and subsequent departure in the summer.
According to them the youngster ‘nurtured his dream’ of becoming a great goalkeeper during his time in England. That move was a bold one for him given his ‘unremarkable steps’ at Chievo earlier in his career.
It’s something which has worked out well as he is now impressing at Bari and recently found himself earning praise from Walter Zenga, who put him among the ‘top five Italian goalkeepers’ currently playing.
The newspaper also adds that the ‘spotlights’ of many Serie A teams are already on him, and they are ‘ready to invest’ on a goalkeeper who could be Italy’s number one in future.
This is all good news for Leeds, who will be eyeing up the player’s future with interest as they look set to pocket a tidy sum at some point in the future.
