Milan’s chase for Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech hadn’t been a secret, as the Italian media had reported for months the Rossoneri’s interest in the player.
With the 29-year-old now helping to take Morocco to the World Cup’s quarter-finals, there’s only more hope he can be signed, with him becoming some kind of ‘dream’ for the Serie A giants.
Milan Live today features a story claiming Ziyech is ‘no longer part of Chelsea’s project’, as manager Graham Potter has other choices ahead of him.
But before Milan fans get too excited with that signing, the outlet takes the quotes from former manager Arrigo Sacchi which brings some different takes regarding Ziyech and what he can add to the Rossoneri.
“I repeat, he is a player with remarkable qualities. But to be successful, technique is not enough, feet are not enough, dribbling is not enough. It takes the head,” Sacchi told Gazzetta.
“As a person I do not know him and I cannot express an opinion. But I trust Maldini, Massara and Pioli who have so far made little, if any, mistakes. If they have followed him and are convinced that he could be functional for the project, then they are right to buy him”.
According to Milan Live, despite Chelsea’s wish to negotiate Ziyech, they’re not just giving him away, and want to recover part of the €40m spent in his signing.
The outlet claims Milan are unlikely to spend a ‘significant amount’ in January, and that’s why the transfer is more possible if the Blues accept a loan with an option to buy.
