With the World Cup always working to hype up many transfer rumours, one of the players who’s benefitting from his appearances is Josko Gvardiol.
The RB Leipzig defender was already said to be wanted by many clubs for his performances for RB Leipzig, with Tottenham Hotspur named among the contenders. Now with his exhibitions for Croatia in Qatar, the interest seems to be growing.
In recent days, Italian sides have been said to be chasing Gvardiol, and that’s why outlet CalcioMercato.it managed to feature an interview with Marjan Sisic, the player’s agent.
The representative admitted that he’s been getting many calls lately, but didn’t really want to tease with a January transfer, claiming Gvardiol is focused the World Cup.
“My phone rings all the time, it’s not a secret. But it has been ever since he stepped into an important stage, playing for the first team of Dinamo Zagreb. But I repeat, we are in no hurry: Josko is 100% concentrated only on the next match. Now he is only thinking about the one against Belgium.
“Josko is not the type of person who likes to make long-term plans. For him, the most important thing is always his next training session and next match. I’ve been his agent since he was 14 and our agenda has always been the same: take it one step at a time, move forward slowly but in the right place and at the right time. The future goal for him is Thursday’s match and, after that, training on Friday (laughs).”
CalcioMercato.it adds their own information claiming Tottenham like the player ‘a lot’. Spurs are said to be in this race along with Chelsea, Inter Milan and Juventus.
This week, we’d already seen reports from Italy claiming Antonio Conte has been using Ivan Perisic to convince Gvardiol about Tottenham, while Leipzig demand €80m for the transfer.
