Manchester United were already being linked to several attackers ahead of the January transfer window. Now with Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure from the club confirmed, it seems more obvious that the Red Devils will seek more options for that sector.
Several players are certainly watched by the Old Trafford side, and as German journalist Florian Plettenberg today shares some updates on that hunt, he talks about three different names on the table.
The first one is Napoli star Victor Osimhen. It’s said he’s one of the ‘top candidates’ to replace Ronaldo, with Manchester United bosses believing he ‘could improve’ the team. The issue is that the striker doesn’t want to leave the Serie A side in the winter, and the Red Devils don’t want to spend the €100m requested.
One of them is former Manchester United player Memphis Depay. He’s said to be ‘on the list’, with Erik ten Hag willing to have him. It’s said there are contacts between ‘all parties’, with Barcelona looking to break his contract and get rid of his salary.
The final name on the list is Jonathan David. It’s said the English club scouted the Lille player ‘several times’ and he wants to ‘take the next step’. According to Plettenberg, the French club would let him leave in January for around €50m.
