Former Chelsea star Eden Hazard has revealed there has been no transfer approach from the west London club since he left Stamford Bridge.
The forward spent seven seasons with the Blues, where he enjoyed an impressive spell with them, winning all the domestic competitions in England and also the Europa League on two occasions.
He left Chelsea for Real Madrid in 2019 and has not managed to replicate his Blues form for the La Liga winners. Hazard has seven goals and 11 assists from 72 matches in all competitions for Los Blancos for over three years.
The Belgium international’s struggles at Real Madrid saw him linked with a return to the Premier League side. Marca sat down for an interview with the 31-year-old, where he was asked whether there was any ‘real option’ for him to leave the Bernabéu.
“[Without ending the question] No, no,” Hazard said.
Marca further quizzed the player whether ‘Chelsea ever called him’, perhaps when Marina Granovskaia was the English club’s director. Responding to that, he said: “No. Chelsea have not called me; I have no idea where theis news come from.”
“In January, it is impossible, because I have family and I like the city. But in summer it is possible that I go. I have one more year [next June] on my contract and it’s the club’s decision,” he explained.
“If the club tells me ‘Eden, thanks for four years, but you have to go’, I have to accept it because it’s normal. But I would like to play more, show more that I can play, that I am a good player.”
The former Chelsea man is unable to pinpoint a reason for his struggles at Real Madrid over the years.
“But that has always happened [arriving for pre-season overweight]. All seasons are the same with me: during the season I have to work and play football, but when I have three weeks to rest, I rest, and I’m not going to change,” Hazard stressed.
“This story was four years ago, although it was reality, but then I did an incredible two months before the injury. Then I haven’t had any luck due to the confinement and many things, like many injuries in the second year. During my years at Chelsea I played 500 games without injuries or anything, and then in two years all these injuries… It’s something I can’t explain.”
