Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Raúl Jiménez is included Mexico’s squad for the World Cup amid concerns over his availability for the international tournament.
The striker last made an appearance for Wolves towards the end of August. He has been nursing a groin issue for a while and has been working with the Premier League side and the national team to regain full fitness.
As there is concern over the 31-year-old’s participation in Qatar, Wolves, for their part, are ‘not warmed’ by Gerardo Martino’s decision to include their player in El Tri squad.
That’s according to El Universal, who point out the injury is a ‘very complicated condition’, especially if no adequate time is given for recovery.
If that happens, it will be a ‘hard blow’ for Wolves since Jiménez is their ‘important asset’. They would need him to help them avoid relegation in the second half of this season. The English club are currently bottom of the table.
On November 15th, Fox Sports Mexico reported the 31-year-old will face a crucial test on Wednesday to find out whether he can represent his country at the World Cup. If this is to be believed, there should be clarity over Jiménez’s situation later today.
