PSV Eindhoven star Cody Gakpo has admitted it would be an ‘honour’ to play for Liverpool if the chance ever arose.
Gakpo has again been in blistering form for the Dutch side this season, continuing his superb performances from last year into this campaign.
He spent the summer being heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, with Manchester United and then Leeds United pushing for his signature.
Neither move ultimately came off and he remained in the Netherlands, but his continued fine performances are now making it a case of when, not if, he leaves the club.
A whole host of European clubs are believed to be keeping an eye on him and the interest from the Premier League is likely to ramp up again by the January transfer window.
One club who haven’t been seriously linked are Liverpool, who, after spending big on Luis Diaz in January and Darwin Nunez in the summer, are not in need of offensive reinforcements for the time being.
That’s not stopping Gakpo from dreaming, though, admitting he would be honoured to play for the Reds if they were to come calling.
“PSV was always my dream club. As for the rest, I don’t really have one,” he told NOS, when asked about his dream clubs.
“Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool. It would be an honour to play there, but I also have to see what kind of team I would do best in.”
