Liverpool have been repeatedly named as one of the suitors to sign Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham next summer.
The Merseyside club’s interest in the midfielder continues to get discussed, this time by SportBild.
It’s claimed Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has recently agreed with the club chief, Mike Gordon, to ‘attack Bellingham properly’.
The Reds will need to bring in reinforcements in the midfield since James Milner, Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcântara are in their 30s, while 29-year-old Fabinho has had a mixed start to the season.
The question is whether €100m would be sufficient to convince BVB. The report states a price tag of €150m is considered realistic by the German club. In that case, Liverpool will not be able to meet this demand without ‘another budget expansion’.
Apart from agreeing a fee with BVB, Klopp’s side will have to convince Bellingham. That could be made difficult if they fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Liverpool are currently ninth in the table after 12 matches, trailing fourth place Newcastle United [played 13 matches] by eight points.
To sum it up, Liverpool will need to allocate more money and also make sure they make it to the Europe’s elite club competition next season to try to sign Bellingham.
