With a contract expiring in the summer, Jorginho is one of the headaches Chelsea are having to deal with at this moment in time.
The Italy international has been a fine servant for the club since his arrival from Napoli, but his agent has always been talking about potentially leaving the Blues at some point, most likely to return to Serie A.
However, it could be a move to La Liga that materialises, as Sport have an article on the player’s stance regarding a Barcelona offer.
Describing the Chelsea player as ‘one of the best midfielders in the world’, the outlet recall what his agent has said, which is that Jorginho ‘wants to be clear about his future in January’.
While his contract at Stamford Bridge expires in the summer, he ‘wants to have everything tied up before’, which could include renewing with the Blues, but they won’t be the ones to offer him something.
Barcelona might be interested, but them coming forward ‘will depend on several factors’, starting with the Frenkie de Jong’s situation, as his exit would certainly free up both a spot in Xavi’s squad and a whole lot of wages.
Then there’s what happens with Sergio Busquets, who could decide to leave in the summer, on top of whether the La Liga side go for other targets, such as Bernardo Silva, whom they already tried to sign in the last transfer window.
Nonetheless, Jorginho ‘will wait for Barcelona’s proposal until January’, but if nothing comes of it and he only has Chelsea’s offer in front of him, he could easily sign that to ensure his future.
