On Wednesday night, Marseille needed a win against Eintracht Frankfurt to boost their chances of making it out of their Champions League group.
They didn’t manage it, losing 2-1 to the Bundesliga side, but they were helped by Tottenham failing to win against Sporting Club de Portugal.
This leaves Tuesday’s game between Marseille and Spurs as a must win for either club, and Chancel Mbemba, who signed in the south of France on a free transfer during the summer, is already hyping up the clash.
Speaking after the game against Frankfurt, he recognised the importance of the upcoming fixture against Tottenham, without forgetting that his side first had a game to play against Strasbourg in Ligue 1.
He told Le Parisien: “We are disappointed, we had to come back with a point. We lost, that’s the reality of football, but we’re not going to give up and keep working because there’s one game left at hime. We know very well that we made mistakes, but we will continue to work.
“That’s a lot of defeats and it hurts. Is it possible? Sure. First you have to win in the league. Against Tottenham, it’s going to be war, it’s going to be a final.”
Marseille welcome Tottenham in the south of France on Tuesday November 1st for what will be an important fixture for both clubs.
Spurs currently sit third in the Premier League after 12 games, while Marseille are fifth in Ligue 1, having failed to pick up a point from their last three fixtures against Ajaccio, Paris Saint-Germain and RC Lens.
