Max Meyer is finally enjoying a positive period in his career, after years of struggles.
When it was clear he’d be leaving Schalke as a free agent, many around the club set about something of a character assassination, with a lot of the claims going over the top and being somewhat typical of the media around the German side at the time.
Meyer’s decision to join Crystal Palace was widely mocked, and then that he struggled with the Premier League club seemed to bring more joy for his detractors in Germany.
He struggled to really get going at Crystal Palace, and it would be no surprise if all the snipes from around his former club weighed heavily on him.
He has six goals in seven Swiss Super League matches, that’s a better run than the midfielder has had at any other point in his career.
Waz.de quote him as saying: “It’s always a great feeling… I dedicate every goal to him (his son who was in the stadium).”
Luzern may not quite be Crystal Palace, but Meyer is clearly happy and hopefully that continues.
