West Ham United are reportedly losing the race for the Juventus striker Simone Zaza, who is unfortunately now best known for a ridiculous penalty against Germany.
Wolfsburg had bid €20m plus €7m in bonuses. West Ham offered the same in total, but made it more tempting by splitting it as €23m + €4m.
Now the German side have shown they can pay €25m + €5m, and Juventus are already planning to hold a meeting to settle the other details.
Watford and Leicester are also said to be interested in the signing, as Zaza’s priority would be to play in England or in Spain.
However, an agreement with Wolfsburg could be all he needed to close the deal to land at Bundesliga next season.
To be frank, Zaza’s value appears inflated. He’s 25 years of age and hasn’t done an awful lot to show he’s a €30m player.
Wolfsburg and West Ham have both been linked to many strikers this summer, and it’s either easy to link them, or the pair are running out of options and throwing big money at Juve.
