Looking at Crystal Palace’s transfer dealings during the January transfer window, you wonder if Sam Allardyce got all the players he wanted to bolster his squad.
One of those, it seems, was Juventus’ central midfielder Mario Lemina, currently recovering from an injury sustained while on international duty with Gabon at the African Cup of Nations.
Sport Witness understands that Crystal Palace enquired about the player’s availability over the course of the January transfer window, but never made a formal offer.
Reports from Ghana emerged that Allardyce ‘narrowly missed out’ on the Gabon international, yet that isn’t quite the case.
With no offer, it seems that Palace were just seeing who was available around Europe, and with Lemina being used sporadically by the Serie A champions, it was worth a shot, especially with the player interested in getting more game time than he currently is in Italy.
