Newcastle United are planning a move for Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir and ‘will make an offer’ for him.

That’s according to Sabah, who say Eddie Howe’s side are ‘closely following’ the goalkeeper’s performances this season.

They report that Newcastle’s ownership are planning to continue their spending to improve the squad after a busy summer transfer window and have ‘opened the mouth of the bag’ for this transfer.

They are ‘preparing to pay a fortune’ for the Super Lig star, who they also made a ‘great effort’ to sign last season.

The Magpies want to build an ‘ambitious squad’ and will spend a fortune on transfers to do so, having already spent big on deals.

They’ve now turned their attention to Cakir and ‘will make an offer’ at the end of the season to try and get him out of Trabzonspor.

They’re closely following his performances and are willing to spend to get him, with Trabzonspor aiming for €20m. They will approve any sale if it meets their expectations.

It’s not the first time Cakir has been linked with a move away, having been linked with Manchester City in the summer. Those rumours suggested he would be joining Girona, who are part of the City Group network, before potentially moving to the Etihad in future.

That move didn’t happen and he ended up staying in Turkey, but now Newcastle are keen and willing to spend to get him.
