Following the news from Spain that Kylian Mbappé wants to leave Paris Saint-Germain in January, multiple reports from France have emerged.
They all say the same thing, which is that the Frenchman feels betrayed by the club after failing to deliver on the promises they made this summer after he agreed to renew his contract with the Ligue 1 side.
Liverpool were mentioned in the Marca article, and they have been brought up by the French media as well, because it’s made clear that Paris Saint-Germain aren’t overly keen with the idea of the player heading to Real Madrid.
Foot Mercato describe the Reds as ‘the most plausible option’ for the France international, with it no secret that Jürgen Klopp is a big fan of what the forward has to offer.
However, L’Equipe, for example, contacted the entourage of Nasser Al-Khelaifi, who made it clear the player ‘would not be leaving this winter’, suggesting that it would be near impossible for Liverpool or whoever else might be interested to get anything done before the end of the season.
Another to back up this news was Daniel Riolo on RMC Sport, who said: “We’ve got an inescapable situation with a Kylian Mbappé at his wits’ end. Mbappé, these days, is being criticised by pretty much everyone. The critics are very negatives, the fans are judging him very negatively due to his succession of tantrums.
“It must be said that Mbappé isn’t doing much to improve his image. He’s forcing himself down into a negative mindset, to the point where he could end up saying that if there’s an opening in January, he’ll leave in January. Either way, at the end of the year, it’s over, because he’s quite simply fed up.”
This means that Liverpool, if they are interested in signing Mbappé, would be better off waiting a bit rather than giving it a go in the next transfer window.
At that point, there would be more time to negotiate, but they would still have to face competition from Real Madrid, whom RMC believe are still very keen, even if they remain a bit annoyed about his U-turn last summer.
