After claims from the Portuguese press that Hull City were closing in on Pedro Martins, we now get a new update explaining the manager will be taking over at the MKM Stadium.

Martins has been a free agent since leaving Olympiakos back in August, and the Tigers had been looking for a new manager following their sacking of Shola Arvetadze.

They whittled down the list of potential targets, and seemingly decided to settle on the Portuguese, who initially rejected their first approach.

Hull City never gave up, however, and their second offer appears to have been the right one, as Mais Futebol are now claiming he ‘will manage’ the Championship club as he ‘has accepted’ the two and a half year deal put in front of him.

We’ll have to wait and see for the official announcement, but it seems the MKM Stadium are about to get a new manager following their 2-1 win over Wigan on Wednesday night.

This lifted Hull to 17th in the table, although it’s worth pointing out that Swansea, who occupy the final playoff spot after 12 games, are only four points away.

This will give Martins something to work on going forward, with the Championship table currently tighter than ever.

Journalist Bruno Andrade then added that on top of the two and a half years, Hull and Martins have an automatic option to extend that by an extra year if needed.
