Tuesday’s edition of A Bola takes another look at the Wolves managerial vacancy and the options the Premier League club are looking at.
Firstly, they say Pedro Martins is a ‘strong candidate’ for the role, partly because he’s currently out of work. According to the Portuguese newspaper, he’s ‘even received an approach’ from Wolves, but it’s made clear this isn’t ‘binding’.
What they likely mean by that is Martins has been contacted to talk about the opportunity, yet no offer has been made and he’s just one of a number of candidates.
There’s no exclusivity in the talks.
When it comes to Carlos Carvalhal, A Bola say they’ve received information that Wolves have backed away from the idea because they don’t want to take on someone so associated with Bruno Lage. The pair have worked together on multiple occasions, and there’s a worry supporters would see him as something of a continuity candidate.
Everything feels like it’s in the initial stages right now, rather than Wolves having someone nailed on before they parted ways with Lage on Sunday.
