Wanting to sign Houssem Aouar this summer, Real Betis never managed to get enough space freed on their wage bill to potentially register the Frenchman, so never made a concrete move.
He remained in Lyon, but his contract there expires in 2023, making him a potential target for many clubs in the near future if he doesn’t renew.
However, there has been talk that he might, meaning Betis are looking at alternatives, among which can be found Brighton & Hove Albion’s Kacper Kozlowski.
The young Pole is currently on loan this season at Vitesse Arnhem, where he has made three appearances to date, gradually making his way into the starting line up.
We’ll have to see how the season goes to find out if it was the right move for the Brighton player, but his potential is well known, which is what Betis seem to be banking on.
The news comes from Fichajes.net in Spain, who claim that the La Liga side have kept an eye on the Poland U21 international, and ‘it is expected that he will to continue to develop’ as first hoped.
This isn’t a transfer for January, as Betis would ‘seek the formula to convince the English team to get his signing in the summer of 2023’.
That gives them time to make room for Kozlowski in their squad, and gather the funds necessary to make Brighton consider the move, if that is something they would be inclined to do.
That being said, they aren’t the only ones keeping an eye on him, with Manchester City and Bayern Munich also reportedly interested.
