Diego Costa’s contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers will include the option to extend it by another year should it go well.
That’s according to UOL, who provide the details around the Spaniard’s surprise move to Molineux today.
They say Wolves are ‘set to be reinforced’ by the veteran striker after moving quickly to find a short-term option up front following injuries to Raul Jimenez and Sasa Kalajdzic.
A deal is now advanced, and he will sign a one-year contract at the club once he has completed the necessary medical examinations.
However, the striker has also negotiated a ‘pre-agreement’ to discuss an automatic renewal of his Wolves contract for another season, until June 2024, dependent on ‘goals achieved’.
What those goals are isn’t mentioned but, given he’s a striker we’ll assume it’s to do with goals and assists and potentially on where Wolves finish this season. That is, just a guess, though.
Either way, Costa is close to completing his move and joining up with Bruno Lage’s side for a stay that could end up being longer if the relationship proves to be a successful one.
