Earlier today, we covered a report from Gazzetta dello Sport that suggested some at Juventus might have wished for Manchester United to agree to Véronique Rabiot’s demands.
The Juventus midfielder’s mother was among those negotiating a move to Old Trafford for the Frenchman this summer, but this ultimately never happened, and the player stayed in Turin.
One of the reasons reported for this were the so-called exorbitant demands put forward by Rabiot’s mum to the Manchester United brass, but that doesn’t appear to be the case.
That’s according to Goal Italia journalist Romeo Agresti, who, when speaking to L’Equipe in an article about the player’s mother, decided to put the record straight.
Now, we all know that’s relative, with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and David De Gea on very high wages at Old Trafford, so it really does depend where he would have fallen on the wage budget had he signed for the Red Devils.
Manchester United eventually went after Casemiro, whom they signed, probably on higher wages than what they would have given Rabiot.
Either way, the decision to move away from the Juventus player and go for the now ex-Real Madrid star was met with a lot of joy by the majority of the Old Trafford faithful, even if the Brazilian has yet to break into the starting XI.
