Gabriel Jesus’ electric start to life at Arsenal will make it difficult for Brazil manager Tite not to start him at the World Cup.
That’s according to journalist Rafael Reis, who believes the striker has made himself the number one pick for Brazil in Qatar.
Jesus joined Arsenal in a €52.5m deal from Manchester City earlier in the summer, with Pep Guardiola’s side happy to ship him out following the arrivals of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez.
Unlike at the Etihad he has found himself the undisputed starter up front for Arsenal and has quickly settled into that role with a series of impressive performances early in the campaign.
A tally of three goals and three assists in five Premier League games so far have made him an instant fan favourite and suggests Arsenal may have got themselves a bargain.
If he can maintain that kind of form ahead of the World Cup, he will ensure himself a place in Tite’s squad, but Reis believes that debate is already settled.
“The market was very busy for Brazilians in a World Cup year, which is good and bad,” UOL report him saying.
“It is always a danger to go to a new club three, four months before the World Cup.
“Some transfers worked out super right away. It’s the case of Gabriel Jesus at Arsenal, which should make him a starter for the national team.
“From the way he’s been playing, it will be difficult for Tite not to consider him as a starter again.”
