Willy Caballero is on the verge of being a serious target for Boca Juniors as the Argentine club continue their quest for an experienced goalkeeper.
It’s been a few weeks since the Manchester City player started being mentioned on Boca Juniors’ wishlist, even though he wasn’t one of the club’s priorities.
But as reported by Telam, Sergio Romero said no when offered a six-month loan from Manchester United, so that will force Boca to go for other options.
Telam’s report claims that it wouldn’t be any easy to take Caballero from Pep Guardiola’s side, but that goes against what was said by other outlets earlier this month.
As the player’s contract expires at the end of the season, La Nacion claimed that he would ‘see with good eyes’ the idea of returning to his youth club.
But La Nacion’s article is only considering a June move, while the other reports explain Boca Juniors wanted a new goalkeeper now.
It would be a great opportunity for 35 year old Caballero, but Manchester City would probably give a negative response over a January move.
Free Willy?!
