Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Ki-Jana Hoever is already facing criticism in the Netherlands, less than a month into his loan spell at PSV Eindhoven.
The youngster returned to his homeland on loan earlier this month, with Wolves electing to ship him out for regular playing time this season.
The 20-year-old has struggled since his arrival in an £8.82m deal from Liverpool in September 2020, failing to convince either Nuno Espirito Santo or his predecessor Bruno Lage.
His time at Wolves and Liverpool has largely been considered a failure, although that is something the player insists is not the case.
The hope for him, and Wolves, is that he’s a regular in the coming months but it seems he’s already facing criticism from those watching.
“Hoever is not a right back. He is certainly not a right back for PSV,” Aad De Mos told Eindhovens Dagblad, relayed by Voetbal Primeur.
“He is vulnerable on the inside. He is a central defender. He is brought in on the basis of his international games with the Dutch junior team, the Dutch U19 team and the Dutch U17 team.
“To the eye, he is a nice player, but his weakness is of course his defensive qualities.”
