Andrea Ranocchia to Tottenham claims started four days ago, as a direct result of Jan Vertonghen’s injury. Inter Milan are keen to sell the defender, who turns 29 years of age next month, so they can raise funds for their own purchases.
It just didn’t make sense, and seemed a very un-Tottenham thing to do, as we explained. Nevertheless, the claims continued in the Italian media, and made their way to England. It’s probably no exaggeration to say that since the start of the summer transfer window, around half of the Premier League have been linked to Ranocchia.
Toby Alderweireld leaving the pitch injured against Manchester City on Saturday will only encourage the reports, and that’s happened.
Calciomercato claim on Sunday that Tottenham have held a meeting with Ranocchia’s agent today, and also asked about another client of the representative.
Andrea Pinamonti plays for Inter Milan’s Primavera side, the youth team, and doesn’t turn 18 years of age until May.
This is either all true, and a surprise, or has snowballed from the original hopeful links between Ranocchia and Tottenham. Take your pick.
