Guardiola personally talks to target and asks him to sign for Man City and compete

Manchester City are reportedly ready to make a “final assault” for the goalkeeper Gerónimo Rulli.

According to the Argentine outlet TN Sports, City would offer £5.7m to buy the player from the Uruguayan club Maldonado, who are often used as a holding club to help investment companies.

Pep Guardiola has reportedly talked to the player and asked him to compete with Joe Hart and Willy Caballero. However, Rulli wants to play regularly and could end up being loaned to Real Sociedad again, where he already spent the last season.

Guardiola’s interest in the 24-year-old isn’t something new. It was also reported by Marca last month, and it looks like the things are finally moving.

TN says that Rulli has asked the clubs to include a clause in the contract which allows him to play the Olympics in Rio in August, since he expects to be the first choice of Argentina’s U23 team.
