Earlier today, we covered a report from Record which stated Joao Palhinha is edging towards a move to Fulham, despite interest from Atletico Madrid and Wolves.
That report didn’t push Wolves forward too much, with Record believing the club are instead concentrating on a big money move for his Sporting teammate Joao Palhinha.
O Jogo are a little more optimistic on behalf of Bruno Lage’s side, saying Wolves are ‘still in the running’ for the midfielder. It’s stated Wolves have ‘equalised the stakes’ after their competitors from London offered €20m ‘in cash’ for the player.
The Cottagers are said to have an agreement with Sporting, but know they can’t yet ‘celebrate’ the signing, because Wolves have returned to the picture. Initially, they were taking their time, waiting for Ruben Neves to leave, but have been panicked into more serious action.
Wolves are said to be moving forward for Palhinha regardless of any sales, with it made clear they would go for the transfer now with the hope of getting incoming revenue later.
Should Wolves make their offer official, and also reach an agreement with Sporting, then it will be down to the player to decide.
