Leeds have lowered star’s price to €50m – Player ‘could give up’ money owed to help with exit

Leeds United have reduced Raphinha’s asking price to €50m, but this figure ‘can still be revised downwards’.

That’s according to Sport, who cover Barcelona’s continued efforts to sign the Brazilian this summer.

The newspaper explains that Raphinha remains one of Barcelona’s ‘main targets’ this summer and has the approval of the club’s management.

Indeed, he is the ‘first option’ to replace Ousmane Dembele should he depart as expected but his high price as slowed down negotiations for a move away from Elland Road.

The Catalan giants had been prepared to pay the €25m clause for the forward if Leeds had been relegated, but as that never happened, they will now only accept €50m.

That is a figure which can be ‘revised downwards’, particularly as Raphinha has made it clear he wants to leave this summer.

He is also willing to ask for that move publicly if it will aid a transfer and his ‘clear preference’ is to leave the Premier League and play for Barcelona.

His agent, Deco, is working with Barca on the transfer, and there’s even the possibility that the player will ‘give up a percentage’ that he has rights to.

In other words, he could give up the sell-on percentage clause he has in his current deal to facilitate a move from Leeds.

That’s one of several formulas which are being ‘studied’ as all parties try to get this developing saga to a happy conclusion.
