Sevilla are now open to selling West Ham United target Lucas Ocampos, with the player pushing for a move away.
That’s according to Diario de Sevilla, who say the Argentine plans to follow Diego Carlos out the exit door this summer.
The newspaper explains that Ocampos is ‘determined to change the scenery’ and find himself a new club in this summer window, believing now is the time to bring an end to his time with Sevilla.
And the Spanish club are open to a sale, too, having refused to close the door to any departures in their efforts to balance the books with sales.
They’re still waiting for Chelsea to move for Jules Koundé but acknowledge the most likely to depart is Ocampos as he has suitors in England and France.
One of those from the former is likely to be West Ham, who were named as suitors in April this year, with a report stating that David Moyes values the player highly.
At the time, it was stated that any interested parties would likely have to meet his €80m release clause, but that’s no longer the case.
While that clause still exists, Sevilla know they have to be realistic, and those sort of figures are no longer attainable.
That is why they sold Diego Carlos below his release clause of €70m, and they would do the same with Ocampos, who is now valued around €20-25m instead.
That’s a far more attainable figure for the likes of West Ham and something Sevilla would be more than happy to take as they look to cover a deficit of €30m in their budget.
