Juventus chief Federico Cherubini is planning a ‘London Blitz’ as he eyes up a move for Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes.
That’s according to Tuttosport, who say the Italian ‘flies to London’ to meet agents and clubs about possible moves this summer, and his first stop will be Arsenal.
That’s because Gabriel is the ‘favourite’ on the Serie A side’s list of options for their defence, which they need to bolster this summer as Giorgio Chiellini is departing.
The Brazilian has been linked with a move for several weeks, and Tuttosport say he has been ‘rising in the Bianconeri valuations’ as the weeks go by.
His price is anything but a cheap one, as Arsenal aren’t particularly keen on a sale, with a figure of €50-60m needed if he is to leave the Emirates.
Juventus are keen on him as he would be a ‘real investment’, but don’t intend to spend that much and will instead look for ‘big discounts’ from Arsenal by including players as part of the deal.
Indeed, Cherubini and co are looking at including the likes of Arthur, who Max Allegri would be more than happy to let go and is ‘quite liked’ by Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, in the hope of bringing that price down.
If that were to work and Arthur leaves, it could lead to a second negotiation with the Gunners for Thomas Partey, who is a ‘longtime favourite’ of the club. He is not a priority at this moment in time, though.
Instead, the focus is on Gabriel, who appears to be rocketing towards the top of Juventus’ wish-list as we get nearer to the summer window.
