Dutch legend Ruud Gullit has warned Manchester United that Ajax star Jurrien Timber may not be ready for a move to the Premier League this summer.
Manchester United are believed to be on the verge of appointing Ajax boss Erik ten Hag as their new manager, with numerous reports now stating that a deal is all but done.
Should he arrive at Old Trafford as expected, there is a belief that he will look to bring several of his current Ajax stars to England with him.
Timber is one of them who has already been linked, with the 20-year-old having established himself as one of the key men in ten Hag’s side this season and earned himself plenty of admirers as a result.
Gullit isn’t so sure, though, debating whether Timber would be ready for life in the Premier and the rigours that come with it.
“I think Timber is a very good player, but whether he can be a defender in England…” Ajax Showtime report him saying.
“You also play against Burnley and West Brom. The top seven strikers are all world-beaters.
“I think he is a very good footballer, but I have my doubts about whether he is a good defender.”
