Everton find themselves 17th in the Premier League, and three points ahead of Watford and the relegation zone.
The Hornets have played two more matches than Frank Lampard’s side, so whilst salvation is not yet assured for the Merseyside club, they’re in a good place to make sure it happens.
So long as they don’t drop back into a poor run of form, things should be ok, and then Lampard can plan for a new season at Goodison Park.
Salomon Rondon hasn’t been able to play a big role in the second half of this season, and is very much seen as a Rafael Benitez man, given the Spaniard signed him and the history the two men have together in football.
Speaking to AS, Rondon was asked what his plans are for club and country, and on Everton he said: “In the short term, we have to win to get out of the rut we’re in, the Premier League is very competitive. If you don’t put your batteries in, they eat you. You have to be in the comfort zone.”
By the comfort zone, we assume he means away from the relegation zone, rather than simply coasting.
