With Botafogo and Corinthians hopeful of signing Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani this summer, the Brazilian media continues to share updates on the talks between clubs and his staff.

On a video today, journalist Jorge Nicola reveals the salary demands that the 35-year-old made to the São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro clubs.

According to his information, Cavani, who makes about R$5.5m (£820k) per month at Manchester United, wants to continue having a salary of European level. That means he’d like at least R$3.5m (£520k) or R$4m or (£600k).

Nicola points out those figures are ‘out of reality’ for Brazilian clubs, and mentions that the best paid player ever in the country is Palmeiras’ Dudu, who makes R$2.1m (£310k) per month.

It’s claimed the big requests made by Cavani have to do with the other offers he already has on the table, as Atletico Madrid and an MLS side are interested in his signing as well.

Since Manchester United have just been knocked out from the Champions League, Botafogo and Corinthians fans had been hopeful that the signing of Cavani could be announced in the coming days, ahead of schedule.

However, Nicola points out, however, there’s ‘zero chance’ the Red Devils will let the striker move before the end of his contract in June.
