With a contract expiring in the summer, defensive midfielder Boubacar Kamara is a wanted man.
Many clubs in Europe have been following his situation over the past few months, including Manchester United, and with a renewal seemingly not on the cards at this moment in time, some are making their move.
Atlético Madrid are one of those, with Foot Mercato reporting that the La Liga side are ‘clearly in pole position’, with Diego Simeone ‘validating’ the player’s profile and giving the green light for his team to make a move for him.
This leaves the door open for the likes of Manchester United, who are said to be ‘staying on top’ of Kamara’s situation, but are currently ‘penalised by the uncertainty regarding their future manager’.
As is well known, Ralf Rangnick ‘will not be in the dugout next season, and the priority is called Mauricio Pochettino’.
The question asked is whether the Argentine, if appointed, would be ‘ready to gamble on Boubacar Kamara’?
We’ll have to wait and see about that, but for now, Atlético Madrid are in the lead, and Manchester United, if they want the versatile defensive midfielder, might need to decide on their manager sooner rather than later.
