Burnley have approached Inter Milan to sign Japanese international Yuto Nagatomo this month, reports Gianluca di Marzio.
Nagatomo has a contract until 2019 at Inter, but it isn’t mentioned how much he could cost Burnley in January. Di Marzio adds Inter would prefer to part ways with Davide Santon instead of Nagatomo, and it remains to be seen if Burnley can convince them with a tempting offer.
Nagatomo signed for Inter in 2010 from AC Cesena in a €4.5m deal, but has lost his place in the starting XI in the past couple of seasons.
The Japanese defender has been linked with a move away from Inter several times in recent years. Every transfer window there’s rumours about the player and then it all fades away until the next window. A move to the Premier League could be tempting for him, if promised regular playing time.
Nagatomo has made 11 appearances for Inter this season, but has only four league starts to his name.
Sean Dyche interest would seem quite surprising, but with Nagatomo being linked to many other Premier League clubs in recent years, perhaps it’s simply Burnley’s turn.
