Bryan Gil is already the darling of Valencia supporters, report El Desmarque.
The 20-year-old joined the Spanish club on deadline day of the winter market. Other Spanish sides had been trying to get him throughout January, and there was also interest from France.
Tottenham signed Gil from Sevilla in the summer, as Erik Lamela moved the other way. The youngster hasn’t been able to get enough minutes at Spurs to help his development, and Antonio Conte clearly wasn’t going to count on him in the near future.
Gil is on loan at Valencia until the end of the season, and has already played two matches for the club. His latest, in La Liga against Real Sociedad, saw him come up against one of the other clubs who had tried to sign him from Tottenham last month.
Despite the match ending 0-0, Gil showed he’s ‘adding magic’ already.
El Desmarque, falling over themselves with praise for the Spurs youngster, say: ‘In addition, his exquisite control and his vision of the game greatly favours the team when it comes to adding magic in every detail he leaves. The boy even took command in every offensive action of Valencia CF. He was encouraged to take free kicks, hang corner kicks and dribble on the edge of the box. In the second half he leaked a tremendous ball through to Maxi Gómez that Alex Remiro blocked. In the purest David Silva style, magical.’
Comparisons to David Silva don’t come easy in Valencia, and El Desmarque call the Tottenham player ‘a new idol’ of the Spanish club’s fans.
Valencia wanted a purchase clause, but Tottenham said any amount would be so high that it wouldn’t be worth including the option.
