Frank Lampard has been keen on bringing one of his former assistants to Everton, but the new Toffees manager has faced refusal from Thomas Tuchel.
Having taken the Goodison Park job just before the transfer window closed, the Chelsea legend has been busy making himself at home.
That’s included late signings, as well as adding to his backroom staff at Everton.
As was reported on Friday, Anthony Barry, who has worked with Lampard previously, has left his part-time role with Republic of Ireland to take up a similar job with Belgium.
Barry will continue his main job with Chelsea, where he works as an assistant for Tuchel. HLN say that Lampard and Everton had been keen on taking the clearly highly-rated coach to Merseyside, but they faced the refusal of the Chelsea manager.
Of course, joining Everton would have meant Barry turning his back on the London club, so was quite a different situation than changing part-time roles with national teams.
