Burnley nearly made a quite interesting signing by the end of the January transfer window, according to reports from Brazil.
Journalist Venê Casagrande says the Clarets ‘came close’ to signing Palmeiras youngster Gabriel Silva.
The deal would be for a loan until the end of the season, and would include a buying option worth £2.5m.
This is backed up by Nosso Palestra, who also state that time was a cause for the transfer not to happen because negotiations never ended in an agreement.
The website says Burnley’s £2.5m offer wasn’t enough to convince Palmeiras, and since there was no time for the Clarets to submit a new bid, the transfer then collapsed.
Gabriel Silva is one of the youngsters in Palmeiras’ gold generation, and despite being only 19, the striker already has 29 appearances for their first team.
