Liverpool would ‘gladly take’ RB Salzburg star Karim Adeyemi in the summer, but a move to Borussia Dortmund is more likely at this point.
Adeyemi has emerged as one of the hottest talents in Europe over the last year, establishing himself as the star for Salzburg and enjoying his international debut with Germany.
This season he has 14 goals and two assists in 17 games in the Austrian Bundesliga, as well as three goals and two assists in six games in the Champions League, numbers which haven’t gone unnoticed around Europe.
All of the big clubs are keen on the 20-year-old’s signature, including Liverpool, who have been named as suitors on numerous occasions in the last few months.
Back in November, it was stated that the Reds would be ‘appealing’ for the youngster, and a call from Jurgen Klopp would make him think twice about his future.
BILD cover that today and state that Adeyemi, who is considered ‘THE German forward talent’ at the moment, is ‘on the wish list of half of Europe’.
At the minute, Borussia Dortmund appear to be leading that race and the player has already turned down a bid from RB Leipzig, who ‘left no stone unturned’ in their pursuit of him.
They even offered a higher salary than the one proposed by Dortmund, but Adeyemi wants to follow Erling Haaland to the Bundesliga club.
They’re still locked in negotiations over a transfer fee after Michael Zorc and Sebastien Kehl were spotted in Salzburg at the end of January, but there is a feeling the deal ‘will be done’ by the summer at the latest.
That means there is still time for Liverpool to get their man if they wish, although he is clearly leaning towards Dortmund at this point.
Whether the Reds would want to, given they’ve just signed Luis Diaz, is debatable, but there are still doubts about Mohamed Salah’s future, with his contract expiring in 18 months time and no new deal signed as yet.
Adeyemi could be a replacement for the Egyptian, and according to BILD, the race is on for his signature.
