Leeds United have made a ‘strong approach’ for Nantes forward Moses Simon, but the French side are not interested in a deal.
That’s according to journalist Ignazio Genuardi, who says Nantes consider Simon as ‘untransferable’ this month unless an ‘XXL offer’ is made for the forward.
26-year-old Simon has been in fine form for Nantes this season, with two goals and six assists in 18 games in Ligue 1 so far.
That form has earned him plenty of attention, with many believing now may be the time for him to make the step up after a career with Gent, Levante and now Nantes.
We’re yet to see any reports of interest from the Premier League, but it seems there is, and it is Marcelo Bielsa and Leeds who are showing it.
They’ve been approached by foreign clubs, but they consider Simon as ‘untransferable’ unless there is a big offer for him, which would have to be in the €20m region. If that doesn’t arrive, the Nigerian will be staying where he is.
Genuardi makes no mention of the nature of Leeds bid, but we can safely assume it wasn’t in the €20m region Nantes are looking for, given they were quick to dismiss it.
Perhaps those in charge at Elland Road will return with a second effort before the window shuts after seeing their initial attempt rejected.
