As you well know, Antonio Conte is a big fan of Weston McKennie, and there have been many rumours about a potential move to Tottenham.
While that seemed like a doable deal back in the summer and in the early stages of the first half of the season, it’s going to be a lot more difficult now.
That’s because the American midfielder has started to really shine under Max Allegri of late, with it all starting towards the end of October when he scored goals in back to back games against Sassuolo and Hellas Verona.
Since then, he’s started the vast majority of Serie A games, and has been key in Juventus finding some form, as shown by their 2-0 win over Udinese at the weekend, during which McKennie scored again.
Gazzetta dello Sport look at the situation on Monday, and make it clear he has turned things around, although he’s not completely out of the woods.
They explain that Conte ‘appreciates him a lot and is pushing Fabio Paratici to try’ for a transfer in January, which Juventus could be open to.
It’s said the Serie A side ‘would only listen to suitable offers but, for now, they do not seem willing to open the door to Tottenham’.
Some mixed messaging there, but money always talks, and everyone knows Juventus, in need of a new striker, could really do with some.
