As the Italian media continues to report Newcastle United’s efforts to sign Robin Gosens from Atalanta, outlet Il Giorno features an interesting update today.
They claim the winger is now ‘evaluating’ the ‘maxi offer’ he has from the Magpies, where he’d have a significant pay raise.
It’s said Newcastle are offering him a three-year contract worth €10.5m net, with bonuses which could make it reach up to €12m. That’d be four times more than what he earns at the Serie A side.
Il Giorno points out this is just the first offer from the English side, who are ‘serious’ and are already ready to raise this bid to a four-year deal.
However, there’s, of course, an agreement with Atalanta still lacking. The outlet claims the Italian club are yet to be contacted by Newcastle, who have preferred to probe the player first.
It’s said Gosens is only leaving in case he asks, and if the Magpies offer a ‘reasonable’ bid.
So perhaps it’s time for the Premier League side to make their move, if they want to stand a chance at signing the German.
