Everton manager Ronald Koeman already being lined up as option for new job

 

Everton manager Ronald Koeman is one of several options who could take over from Luis Enrique, according to Spanish newspaper Marca.

Enrique took over at Barcelona in 2014 and it’s thought that four years of the job will be enough for the manager. There’s a possibility of a contract renewal, but even that would only be to 2019, reckon Marca, with Enrique not far away from the stage he needs a sabbatical, just like Pep Guardiola did.

Managing Barcelona has already had some wear and tear on Enrique, and as possible future options are discussed, it’s no surprise to see Koeman among them.

The Everton manager is routinely listed as a possible candidate, and his Barcelona playing career justifies that.

Koeman is a legend at the Catalan club, having been such an important part of Barcelona’s first European Cup triumph.

Marca say Koeman’s Everton contract ends in June (we’d assume they mean June 2019, when Enrique may leave) and say he has a ‘unique aura for Barcelona’.

To stand any chance of getting the Barca job, Koeman will first have to excel with Everton.
