Tottenham Hotspur ‘step forward’ to sign Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, according to TuttoMercatoWeb.
Spurs currently have Hugo Lloris as the first-choice keeper, with Pierluigi Gollini, on loan from Atalanta, is the 35-year-old’s deputy at the north London club.
The France international is attracting interest from his native, and in particular, from Stade Rennais.
Earlier on Thursday, France Bleu Armorique reported the Ligue 1 side ‘dream of attracting’ Lloris after this season. It was also stated Rennes owner François Pinault has been ‘internally’ pushing for the custodian’s arrival since last summer.
Antonio Conte has already expressed his desire to retain his current No.1 beyond this season.
Although it’s not clear whether Lloris and Gollini will still be at the club after this season, TuttoMercatoWeb explain Spurs ‘could give’ Conte a ‘new goalkeeper’, without mentioning either of the two current keepers at the club.
This is where, according to TMW, the Toffees player comes in. Pickford is the first-choice goalkeeper for the Merseyside club and Spurs have taken steps to sign the Everton man.
TMW brings this surprise claim, but there is no mention if either the England international and/or Rafael Benítez’s side are interested to do business with Tottenham.
