Franck Kessie had a great start to the season with Atalanta, and that was always likely to lead to transfer rumours. The midfielder has been linked with around a third of Premier League clubs, and Chelsea have been one of those.
What makes this different is that France Football are of course in France, whereas the other claims have been originating from Italy, where Kessie plays. That may not make a great deal of sense, until it’s considered that Ivory Coast born Kessie obviously speaks French, and his agents have offices in France.
Antonio Conte’s Chelsea are said to have pushed themselves a step ahead of the competition with the €25m offer, there’s no claim on whether that’s been accepted or rejected.
France Football also reiterate an earlier claim of their own, that Jose Mourinho called the player in November to share his appreciation of Kessie’s good form. At that stage there were no claims of a Manchester United offer, but they’re one of the clubs who have been linked in Italy.
This story will probably continue with more claims of bids from England and growing interest.
