It’s been over a week since Steve Gerrard’s appointment as Aston Villa manager was confirmed and he registered his first win with his new club at the weekend.
On November 22nd, Fichajes.net explained the former Rangers manager wants Villarreal star Pau Torres at Villa Park.
Reports in the British press have stated Borna Sosa is also on Gerrard’s agenda and Villa would be willing to pay around €30m to take him away from VfB Stuttgart in the winter market.
Claims made in England have reached Germany, with Bild among those to provide their take on this case.
According to Bild, Stuttgart have suffered a loss of €80m due to the global pandemic and ‘have to generate transfer revenues again’ in the future. Despite the claims of the Premier League side’s interest, the German club have not yet received a request from Aston Villa.
Over at Sky Deutschland, they also relay claims made in the English media about Villa’s plan to make a €30m offer.
It’s claimed that even if Stuttgart want to retain Sosa, their leaders could ‘ponder’ his sale, if they were to receive an offer in that region, due to their ‘difficult financial situation’.
